Serene California Mountain Estate

A 40 ACRE MOUNTAIN RETREAT

click on image for larger view and more details A beautiful hand built home with artesian spring, fruit trees, vineyards, two fenced in gardens, creek frontage with several breathtaking waterfalls, covered carport, woodshed, and large two story barn, all situated on a secluded 40 acre mountain estate bordering the National Forest, and overlooking the South Fork of the Trinity River in beautiful Trinity County, California.

This estate encompasses a 20 year investment in time and labor for one devoted family. With one visit you will be assured of the attention paid to the Minor details in the construction of this open beam home. Built by a craftsman who has spent his years working on multi-million dollar estates in the bay area, this home is replete with small items that tell a history of Northern California: like the stained glass window above the entry:

It has been carefully reconditioned and then hand leaded with stained glass...   I've been told that on a moonlit night the glass really lights up and makes for a spectacular view.

The stove itself has ben re nickeled and is in excellent condition!

Features like this can be found throughout the estate!

click on image for larger view and more details Situated between Redding and Eureka California - A beautiful 2 1/2 hour mountain drive from Eureka - this is a 2360 square foot 2 bedroom with 1 and a half bath house located in the small hamlet of Hyampom, California. The exterior is built with a combination rock and cedar siding. The inside has open fir beams with red fir flooring in the kitchen, living area, and downstairs bathroom. Redwood is used above the fireplace and for the mantle, and the outside deck off the living room; ash for the kitchen cabinets. Above the fireplace, and rising to the roof above, you will find tongue and grooved, bevelled redwood. The fir used to build this house was originally harvested from the property and milled in town in 1981. Although the house is about 20 years old, it has an old-world, early American feel, and looks like something right out of Country Living Magazine.
Save the roof beams, for which he hired a hand for three days, the owner laid every rock, board, plank, and nail himself - the entire estate was built by one man and his family

The kitchen has a unique counter top made of imported European tile with a large ash cutting board that hides a modern gas stove. Just pull up the cutting board and start cooking.

and very spacious, old claw foot tub next to a pedestal sink on a raised wood floor. Across from the tub is the tiled shower. From the bathroom window there's a view of huge, moss-covered rocks and nature area. And at the other side, hidden from view, is a Victorian double door with Roman Arches that are incorporated as another window.
Upstairs, the master bedroom has another stained glass window, and is carpeted like the other bedroom.
In the basement you will find a 5 burner, double oven gas stove. A nice wine cellar/canning area that includes a commercial, double stainless steel sink, and washing machine. Lots of shelves and storage area. Walls are veneered in driftwood stucco stone. A Riteway* wood burning stove for heating the house is here, as well. However, the house is well insulated and has double-paned glass windows, including the stained glass, so the fireplace and Monarch stove is all that is being used to heat the house... Well lit, and windows, so area could be converted into a third bedroom.

Outside and near the attached carport is the upper garden. An out-building, totally screened in, and used as a potting barn sits in front; here you also have a large laundry tub and shower facilities with hot water from a solar water heater. A washing machine is here, and is included as well. Draping over the fence, one can see the many grape vines that encompass the upper garden.
A few hundred feet away is the 30X40, partially enclosed barn, with room enough for RV storage. Above is a second level for even more storage.

Next to the lower garden is a small pasture suitable for a horse, or any other critter you care to raise: or perhaps a place for a gazebo since Mill Creek can be heard flowing around the area. Several wonderful waterfalls, some measuring 20 feet, cascade through 1300+ feet of the property.

One final note:

Owner is bugging out and moving to Australia... or is it Costa Rica?    Anywho, everything is for sale; furnishings and all the numerous antiques that embellish the estate. Act quickly and you might be able to cajole a few of the furnishings for yourself, including a C-15 Pelton wheel with generator

* Riteway stove and dining room lamp may or may not be included
